Coesia publishes Sustainability Report 2023
The Coesia Sustainability Report 2023 reaffirms the commitment to sustainability made by the Group, adopting a new ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) format ahead of formal application of the new EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive.
The Report provides a transparent description of the principal steps taken by Coesia, including participation in the UN Global Compact (UNGC) and the Science-Based Target initiative (SBTi). These steps highlight how profoundly Coesia shares such fundamental principles as respect for human rights, attention to the quality of work, protection of the environment and the fight against corruption.
Environment. Coesia has continued to invest in reducing the ecological impact of Group activities, with projects that facilitate decarbonization, the installation of photovoltaic plants, and the development of technologies whose low-impact solutions help customers to transition sustainably. These efforts have made it possible to cover 60% of Group electricity needs from renewable sources, thus lowering the environmental impact and promoting a more sustainable energy model.
Social. Coesia further strengthened support for local communities and the wellbeing of employees by opening the Coesia Medical Center in 2023. This facility, dedicated to the health and safety of local workers and travelers, provides healthcare and supplementary prevention services.
Governance. The ethical management of the Coesia Group was updated in 2024, with renewal of the Code of Ethics, an updated Suppliers’ Code of Conduct, and a Global Whistleblowing Procedure. This increasingly employee-, customer-, and community-centric approach to responsible development and sustainability embraces all aspects of Group activities.
The Silver Medal awarded by EcoVadis recognizes the level of maturity reached by Coesia, attesting not only to the responsible development of a more sustainable and circular business model, but also to the advanced social and governance practices adopted by the Group.
